Lola was adopted when she was 4 months old from the Delta Humane Society in Arkansas. When she was a puppy waiting for adoption, she witnessed some disturbing events at the shelter. When she arrived here in New Hampshire, she was already somewhat anxious. Her anxiety continues to show up in needing lots of cuddles. If you give her a tasty treat, she whines and then takes it somewhere private to eat. She needs someone in her life that is around often, can walk her daily, and is ok with a dog that likes to be around.

Lola is a black lab most likely mixed with some boxer. She is 8 years old and weighs about 40 lbs.

She is a healthy pup and loves to run around the yard and in the woods. She never strays from the property and when she is let off the leash, she stays close by. She is so friendly with children and she has grown up with both kids and cats so she has a healthy respect for felines. She is friendly with all people although once in a while she barks at taller men but quickly warms up to them.

Lola is a one-dog type of dog. When she was younger she was unfriendly with other dogs. Now as an older lady, she generally ignores other dogs but I only let her off the leash when its guaranteed there will not be other dogs around.

This is not an easy decision. We love Lola but she needs more than me and my teenage son can offer her over the remaining years of her life. She needs someone who wants a family member who loves so much.
